Fashion History Museum Exhibition “12.12.12: Life in Three Centuries”

Join Jonathan Walford, Kenn Norman, and members of the board of the Fashion History Museum, February 24,  4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the newly restored Guelph Civic Museum (52 Norfolk Street) to view their newest travelling exhibition “12.12.12: Life in Three Centuries.” This exhibition looks at life in 1812, 1912, and 2012 through fashion, social history, pop culture, and news headlines.   The exhibition is currently open 1 – 5 p.m. daily, admission is free until February 26. WEEKEND WITH JANE AUSTEN April 20–22, 2012, Toronto

A weekend with Jane Austen will be presented 20–22 April 2012 by JaneAustenDancing. It will feature a combination of workshops, lectures and social events on the theme of ordinary life in Austen’s world. The event will open Friday 20 April with an evening at Historic Fort York and will feature a lamplight tour of the Regency-era Fort, a dance demonstration, fashion show and supper. Tea, coffee and desserts made by the marvellous Fort York volunteer cooks will also be served. Saturday’s program (21 April) at St. Barnabas Anglican Church on the Danforth, will feature lectures, workshops, a carefully chosen selection of Regency-related books and a modest Jane Austen shop (details on the website listed below). The afternoon will conclude with a pre-ball English Country Dance workshop suitable for beginners and experienced dancers alike, and the evening will feature a ball with decorations, live music and elegant refreshments.
